Skulls in the Living Room: How Every Day Became Halloween

Darlings of the dark side, gather 'round! It seems the veil between the world of the living and the realm of eternal spook has thinned to the point of transparency. No longer content to confine our love for the macabre to a mere month of mischief, we've decided to invite the spirits of Halloween to take up permanent residence in our homes. Who needs cheerful throw pillows when you can rest your weary head on a velvet-covered coffin?

The Rise of the Everyday Goth

Once upon a midnight dreary, while we pondered, weak and weary, over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore... we realized that Edgar Allan Poe's aesthetic was actually pretty darn chic. Suddenly, Victorian gothic wasn't just for dusty old mansions and eccentric aunts anymore. No, my dear mortals, it has crept into the mainstream, bringing with it a delightful air of mystery and a dash of the dramatic.

☠☠Skull-duggery in Interior Design☠☠

Remember when a skull was just for medical students and pirates? Those days are as dead as the dodos. Now, you're not truly living unless you've got at least one cranium gracing your coffee table. Bonus points if it's holding your succulents or serving as a rather morbid paperweight. Who knew that the symbol of our mortality could be so versatile?

Once upon a time, cobwebs in the corner meant you were due for a date with a feather duster. Now? They're a statement piece. "Oh, those aren't real cobwebs," you'll say to your guests. "They're artisanal, hand-spun silk webs I picked up at a quaint little boutique run by a charming family of spiders." 🙄

The Allure of the Afterlife

What's driving this trend towards the tenebrous? Perhaps it's a collective desire to thumb our noses at the cheery tyranny of minimalism. Maybe we're all just tired of pretending we're not fascinated by the great beyond. Or could it be that we've finally realized black goes with everything?

Whatever the reason, the macabre movement is here to stay, turning our homes into year-round haunted houses that would make the Addams Family green with envy (if they weren't already that sickly pallor).

Embracing Your Inner Morticia

So how can you join the ranks of the eternally spooky? Here are a few tips to get you started on your journey to the dark side:

1. Candelabras: Because nothing says "I commune with spirits" like the flicker of candlelight.
2. Velvet drapes: The heavier, the better. Bonus points if they could conceivably hide a secret passage.
3. Antique mirrors: For catching glimpses of things that may or may not be there.
4. A raven figurine: Perch it atop a bust of Pallas, just above your chamber door. Nevermore will your decor be boring.
The best place to find all these haunting items has to be the local antique shops, thrift stores, oddities and Curiosities shops. Some of the most interesting antique finds come from places like this. Many eccentric artists are selling their oddities art online and at creepy craft fair pop ups, expos and conventions of Curiosities across the country.
The Spooky Season That Never Ends

As we approach All Hallows' Eve, take comfort in knowing that the spirit of Halloween need not be packed away with the jack-o'-lanterns and ghost shaped candy bowls. With a few carefully chosen creepy and creative creations, you can keep the mystery and allure of the season unalive all year round 😉.

So embrace your inner creature of the night, darlings. After all, why settle for a house when you can have a delightfully haunted home? Just remember: if the walls start bleeding, that might be taking the trend a bit too far.
Happy haunting😱👻
